Lake Leake Kayaks have single, double and fishing sit-on-top kayaks available for hire.  Child, youth and adult size life jackets are all supplied and included in the hire cost.

Gift vouchers are also available to purchase. These make excellent Christmas presents for Summer!

Perfect for campers, locals looking for a fun outdoor experience in their own backyard or a birthday party to remember!  Kayaking at Lake Leake is enjoyable for all ages and abilities, so get back to nature and "Paddle the Day Away!"

Where's Lake Leake?

Lake Leake (see map here) is a short drive from Mount Gambier, Penola and Millicent, in the lower South East of South Australia. It is a free camping site and makes the ideal kayaking destination. BBQ and picnic table, outdoor shower and toilets are among the onsite facilities. Clubrooms are also available to hire for functions.

The Fleet!

Single and double "Aquayak" Sit-On-Top kayaks are available to hire.  They are high quality, Australian made and were purchased locally from Spot On Fishing, Tackle and Outdoors. Lightweight, stable and easy to paddle, these kayaks are ideal for families and/or beginner paddlers!  There are currently 6 single kayaks and 3 double kayaks available for hire.

Fishing rod holders (Railblaza rod tubes) are also available as an 'add-on' to hire for a small fee of $5.  These are easily fitted to the kayaks for those wishing to wet a line!

Gift Vouchers

Looking for a unique gift? How about a Kayaking gift voucher? Vouchers are available for 2 hour hire (Single kayak: $25, Double kayak: $35) These would make great Christmas presents to enjoy over the Summer holidays! You can choose to have your voucher/s emailed to you or posted out/ hand delivered at no extra cost!  Vouchers can be ordered via phone call, email or Facebook Messenger.

(Please note that Gift Vouchers are non refundable.  However, they can be transferred to other people and they do not expire!)

Suitable attire must be worn - jeans and other heavy clothing are not appropriate.  

Sun safety is very important when kayaking.  Sunscreen is available on collection if you forget to bring your own. 

Keeping hydrated is also important out on the water.  Drinks and snacks can be taken out paddling, but remember to please bring any rubbish back with you.

Please also be ware of snakes that inhabit the area and never try to approach one.

Bookings are essential! Quick and easy online booking is preferred, or call 0409 139 264.  Payment is strictly cash or card on arrival.

Group bookings attract discounts as shown above.  Please note that these discounts will not show at the time of booking online, but will be applied at time of payment.

Check booking times and availability on the online calendar.  Other times outside those shown online may also be available - please call or message to check.  Bookings are subject to weather conditions (see Cancellation Policy.)  Please check local weather forecast and wind speeds here before you book.

Customers are required to read and familiarise themselves with all T’s & C’s and Cancellation Policy prior to booking. All participants over 18 years are required to sign a Hire Agreement on kayak collection and any minors will need a supervising adult to sign for them.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. I am aware of the risks and dangers associated with Kayaking and I freely accept all responsibility for my own safety and the safety of any minors in my group.  This includes self-rescue if necessary. I assume sole liability for all injuries or damages while using the kayaks and equipment. 
  2. I understand that Lake Leake is an unsupervised and isolated location. In an emergency, call 000.
  3. I agree to wear the provided Current Australian Standard life jacket (PFD) at all times.
  4. The following are minimum safety requirements however, careful consideration to individual experience and capabilities in the water must be made when booking: a) Minimum age: 3 years. b) Children aged 3-7 years must ride with an adult in a double kayak. cChildren under 12 must be accompanied by an adult in or on the water (Adult to child ratio 1:5.). d) Kayakers under 18 years must be supervised and have an adult sign on their behalf.
  5. Maximum weight capacities must not be exceeded: a) Single kayaks 120kg (1 person only, 8+ years) b) Double kayaks 240kg (up to 2 adults + 1 small child, 3-7years)
  6. I am physically fit and able. I am advised to seek medical advice if in doubt of my capabilities, especially in the case of pre-existing medical conditions or if on prescription medication.
  7. I am aware that this is a shared zone and other boat traffic may be present.
  8. Kayaks are not to be used by anyone under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.
  9. Participants are responsible for any loss and/or theft of the kayaks and equipment during the hire period and may incur extra charges to cover any replacement costs, if necessary.
  10. Kayaks are not to be removed from the area or left unattended at any time.
  11. Kayaks and equipment must be returned in the same condition, by the return time or late fees will apply.
  12. For early returns, call 0409 139 264. There are no refunds issued for early returns.
  13. Please let us know if you are running 15mins or more late for your booking time.  A late arrival will not change the finish time of your booking. 
  14. Kayaks are to be used for their intended purpose only - this means sitting only, no standing.
  15. Please report any accidental damage to equipment as soon as possible.
  16. Kayaks are not to be dragged on the boat ramp. Please use wheels if necessary.
  17. Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings (dry bags provided on request)
  18. Glass is not permitted on kayaks.
  19. Dogs and other animals are not permitted on the kayaks.
  20. Lake Leake Kayaks reserves the right to cancel a booking for any reason before or during the hire period (see Cancellation Policy.)

Cancellation Policy:

Lake Leake Kayaks reserves the right to cancel a booking before or during the hire period for any reason including unsafe weather conditions, breach of Hire Agreement terms or any other unforeseen circumstance.

  Business operation will cease on total fire ban days (as per the CFS website), strong winds, extreme heat, heavy rainfall or lightning present. If on the date of your booking it has been deemed unsafe to operate due to weather, you will be contacted as soon as possible. Whilst we frequently check forecasts in the days leading up to your booking, there are some occasions where weather is worse than forecast resulting in last minute cancellations of sessions and we apologise for the inconvenience, however, safety is priority. Customers will be able to reschedule their booking in the case of operator cancellation due to the weather or any other unforeseen circumstance.

No refunds will be issued in the event of early returns of kayaks and equipment. 

No refunds will be issued for cancellation by operator due to breach/breaches of the terms and conditions of the Hire Agreement.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule your booking, so we can refill your place. 

"No shows" will not be tolerated and will be unable to rebook.
